The Ad-Hoc Analyses module provides the capability to build and generate one or more requests to perform Summary Statistics, Item Analysis, DIF, and Equating analyses (DIF and Equating will be included in a future release).  A request is a collection of analyses to be performed on specific input data to produce resulting statistics and an analysis is a unit of statistical processing performed on a sample of test takers.  Each request is built one analysis at a time using a predetermined structure for each analysis type.  A unique sequential number is assigned across all testing programs to each new request.  The request number is used to select and access requests for further action within the Analysis Overview module.

Create a Request
To navigate to the Ad-Hoc Analyses module, select Tasks and then Ad-Hoc Analyses from the Main Navigation toolbar.
  • Search for an Admin Code or an Operational Admin Name
    • The list is broken down into the two categories, with standard Admins listed first sorted in descending admin code order, and then Operational Admins sorted in descending creation date order.

Ad-Hoc Analyses Admin Search

  • The Admin row(s) will display in the grid and can be expanded to show test level and form (IBT/PBT) or package (MST) level details by selecting the row.
    • The list of Tests can be filtered for ‘contains’ using the filter icon.
    • Select the Expand all link within an Admin row to expand all test rows in the grid.  Note that only one admin can be expanded at a time.
Ad-Hoc Analyses Admin Selected View

  • Selections in the grid can be made in 3 different ways:
    • To make manual selections follow the steps below under Manual Selection.
    • If you need to make multiple selections for different tests and forms within an IBT/PBT admin, then you might prefer to have the selections made automatically through an upload file. Go to the Automated Selections Upload File section for steps on how to do this.
    • If you want to apply selections in bulk for one or more Linear form (All, Meta, Base, Sub) levels for IBT/PBT admins or package level for MST admins once an analysis template column is added, go to the Bulk Actions section for steps on how to do this.

Manual Selection
  • Select the Add Analysis Template button to add the analysis template(s) that are approved and enabled to the grid that you will want to create a request for.
    • Reminder:  Make sure the analysis template has been configured in Test Settings for each test that it has been applied to.
    • A limit of 20 templates can be added to the grid in one session.  If 20 templates have been added to the grid, this button will be disabled.  You can enable the button by deleting at least one of the analysis template columns.
  • In the Add Analysis Template modal, select the analysis template(s) that you will want to include in the request, then select the Add button.  The analysis template(s) will be added as columns in the grid sorted alphabetically.
Ad-Hoc Add Analysis Template Modal

  • Expand the Admin and Test rows in the grid to go to the form or package you are creating a request for.  Make your selections by checking off the analysis template column cell for the appropriate row context.
    • The analysis template cell will be disabled if the test has not been applied to the analysis template.
    • Selecting multiple templates per context row will generate one request.
    • The number of requests that will be generated based on your selections will display in the header row of the grid as Total Requests Selected.

Automated Selection Upload File
  • Select the Upload File button to have selections made automatically through the upload of a file rather than doing it manually.  In the Open browser pop up box, browse for the file to upload and select the Open button.  If there are no validation errors, then selections will be made automatically in the corresponding context/analysis template cell in the grid.  You can make more manual selections or move to the Publish step to generate requests.
    • Use the system defined PARcore Ad-Hoc Upload File Layout, which includes the layout format, validations, and examples to create your file.
    • This option is available for IBT and PBT admins and is not available for MST admins.
    • Context data in the file must match the admin that was selected.
    • Existing selections made in the grid will be overridden by the data included in the upload file.
    • If there are any validation errors nothing will be uploaded, and an Error modal will display listing the row#/column# with the corresponding error message.

Bulk Actions
Once an Analysis Template column has been added to the grid, the following bulk actions can be applied to each column by selecting the Kabob menu in the column header row:

Request Generation
  • Once you have made your selections, select the Publish button to initiate the request generation process.
    • If the request generation process has started successfully, you will receive a “Request Generation in progress.” message and your selections will be cleared automatically.
    • In the rare event that the request generation process fails, you will receive a “An error occurred.  Select “Publish” to try again.”.  All selections will stay intact and select the Publish button to try again.

Ad-Hoc Analysis Publish a Request

  • Once the request(s) have finished generating you will receive an Alert in the Global navigation menu for each request notifying you if the generation process completed successfully or if it ended in an error and a request was not generated.
    • Requests that have been generated successfully will be available in the Analysis Overview module.
    • If the request successfully generated a unique request number will be created.  Select View in the Alert which will navigate you to the Request Details page where you can view all the details of the request.
    • If the request generation ended in an Error, select View in the Alert which will navigate you to the Request Generation Error Details page which will list the errors as to why the request generation process failed.
