From the PARcore Data Visualization Studio Landing Page, navigate to this report by selecting the Parameter and Ability Histograms report icon. This report is only applicable for requests that include the Analysis Type of Item Response Theory and include the option to include calibration analyses.
The bento box menu icon at the top left of the report can be used to navigate back to the Landing Page.
Information about the request that is being viewed are displayed at the top, including the request number, admin, test, form ID or package ID, and user form code.
When first launching the report it will be empty. Make initial filter selections in order to visualize the report. Any filter with a red asterisk indicates it is required to have a selection made before the report can be displayed.
Choose Filters
Refer to Visualize Results for general information about filter navigation for any report. The filter for this report is:
- Analysis - select one analysis sequence number to view at a time. The analysis sequence number will reflect the sequencing from Request Details for this request.
- Upon first initializing this dashboard, the filter will display as (Choose your analysis) and a selection must be made.
- Select the search icon (magnifying glass) and enter search text to see Analysis filter options for the request you are viewing.
- Using an asterisk in the search text box will display all possible analyses to choose from.
- Once the current analysis results have been reviewed, continue to use the search feature or utilize the slider arrows (< and >) to view each analysis one at a time. If there is only one analysis for this report the navigation buttons will be disabled.
- The analysis template name used for this request analysis will also be included in the filter description.
- Upon first initializing this dashboard, the filter will display as (Choose your analysis) and a selection must be made.
- Item Scoring
- This radio button filter is only visible when viewing the "Parameter" tab.
- Only one item scoring set of histograms (dichotomous or polytomous) can be viewed at a time. By default the view is set Dichotomous. If your analysis also has polytomous items, change the radio button select Polytomous to view the histograms for those items.
- Important note for analyses with only polytomous items: There will be only one radio button and it will be for "Polytomous". However, since the default is set in the backend to Dichotomous, if you do not have any dichotomous items in the analysis there will be no report displayed at all until you select the "Polytomous" radio button manually.
Item Scoring: both dichotomous and polytomous
Item Scoring: only dichotomous items
Item Scoring: only polytomous items
- Display Group
- This radio button filter is only visible when viewing the "Ability" tab.
- The "All" display group option is selected by default. A second radio button to switch to histograms by "Form" is only included when the request details option to have additional ability distributions by Form was selected. the option to add Form as an additional ability distribution.
Display Group: All test takers and Form
Navigating Tabs in Tableau:
- There will be individual tabs to navigate to different reports (Parameter, Ability). The tab being viewed is displayed in white, with blue-font tab label. Tabs that are available but not being viewed are pale blue with blue-font tab label. Click into a tab label to view that report. You can only view one tab at a time.
Parameter Tab
This tab will display histograms of a-parameters versus b-parameters for all of the items in the selected analysis. When applicable, there will be separate plots for dichotomous items and polytomous items and users can toggle through them using the "Item Scoring" radio button filter at the top.
The number of items out of range is displayed as a footnote below each histogram.
Utilize the tooltip feature to see more detail about the bin range, number of items, and percent of items in a specific histogram bar.
Ability Tab
This tab will display the histogram of ability for all test takers by default. If the request details indicate additional ability distributions by form are required, use the "Display Group" filter at the top to toggle to see the ability histograms for each form in the analysis.
Utilize the tooltip feature to see more detail about the bin range, number of test takers, and percent of test takers in a specific histogram bar.
Summary statistics associated with the histogram group can be displayed below the graph by selecting the hyperlink in the x-axis label at the top of the histogram, or by selecting to highlight any bar on the histogram.
Additional statistics are produced and available to users beyond what is presented in the Data Visualization Studio. Refer to the RTSSTAT API and Download Statistics help documentation for more information regarding accessing all of the available statistics produced.
