From the PARcore Data Visualization Studio Landing Page, navigate to this report by selecting Bivariate Distribution Graphs report icon. This report is only applicable for requests that include the Analysis Type of Summary Statistics and the select of Yes for the analysis option for Bivariate Frequency Distributions.
The bento box menu icon at the top left of the report can be used to navigate back to the Landing Page.
When first launching the report it will be empty. Make initial filter selections to visualize the report. Any filter with a red asterisk is required to have a selection made before the report can be displayed.
Refer to Visualize Results for general information about filter navigation for any report. The filters for this report are:
- Analysis - select one analysis sequence number to view at a time. The analysis sequence number will reflect the sequencing from Request Details for this request.
- Upon first initializing this dashboard, the filter will display as (Choose your analysis) and a selection must be made.
- Select the search icon (magnifying glass) and enter search text to see Analysis filter options for the request you are viewing. Using an asterisk in the search text box will display all possible analyses to choose from.
- Once the current analysis results have been reviewed, continue to use the search feature or utilize the slider arrows (< and >) to view each analysis one at a time. If there is only one analysis for this report the navigation buttons will be disabled.
- Set Axes Based on Observed/Possible Value Range - select the score range to display for both axes.
- The options to select are "Observed" or "Possible". The default selection is the observed score range.
- Set Minimum Frequency to Plot – enter a value to set as the minimum frequency to include in the plot. The default selection is a minimum frequency of 1.
- Change the value by entering a number into the entry box and either hitting enter on your keyboard or simply clicking your cursor outside of the entry box. The selection will refresh and be applied to the plot being displayed.
- Changing this minimum frequency value will not change the x-axis or y-axis values.
Bivariate Frequency Distribution Graph Display:
The bivariate frequency distribution graph will be displayed for the chosen analysis. Please be aware that the Marginal Frequency Distributions for your bivariate scores can be viewed in the report Frequency Statistics.
A density legend is displayed under the graph indicating the minimum to maximum frequencies for the given analysis with five steps of color distinction.
- Higher frequency values will be plotted as darker and larger circles.
- Lower frequency values will be lighter and smaller circles on the plot.
- Changing the Set Minimum Frequency to Plot will update the density legend so that the new minimum set is represented as the smallest and lightest circle on the plot.
A tooltip appears when hovering over any data point on the plot to display the y-axis score value, x-axis score value, and frequency being displayed in that plot point.
If desired, utilize the zoom feature to expand your plot to get a closer view of a set of data points. Refer to Visualize Results for general information about the zoom functionality for any report that contains plots.
There is a Statistics section to the right of the bivariate graph. The correlation, sum of the cross products, and covariance values for the two scores being analyzed are displayed.
