From the PARcore Data Visualization Studio Landing Page, navigate to this report by selecting the Frequency Distribution Graphs report icon.   This report is only applicable for requests that include the Analysis Type of Summary Statistics and the selection of Yes to at least one of the following analysis options:  Frequency Distributions and Summary Statistics, Category-Scores Frequency Distribution and Summary Statistics, and Bivariate Frequency Distributions.

The bento box menu icon at the top left of the report can be used to navigate back to the Landing Page.

When first launching the report it will be empty.  Make initial filter selections in order to visualize the report.  Any filter with a red asterisk indicates it is required to have a selection made before the report can be displayed.

Filters
Refer to Visualize Results for general information about filter navigation for any report.  The filters for this report are:

Frequency Graph Filters

  • Analysis - select one analysis sequence number to view at a time.  The analysis sequence number will reflect the sequencing from Request Details for this request.
    • Upon first initializing this dashboard, the filter will display as (Choose your analysis) and a selection must be made.
    • Select the search icon (magnifying glass) and enter search text to see Analysis filter options for the request you are viewing.  Using an asterisk in the search text box will display all possible analyses to choose from.
    • Once the current analysis results have been reviewed, continue to use the search feature or utilize the slider arrows (< and >) to view each analysis one at a time.  If there is only one analysis for this report the navigation buttons will be disabled.
    • When viewing a Summary Statistics analysis for Frequency Distributions and Summary Statistics or Bivariate Frequency Distributions, the score being analyzed will also be included in the filter description.
    • When viewing a Summary Statistics analysis for Category-Scores Frequency Distributions and Summary Statistics, the score and category being analyzed are included in the filter description.

  • Set X-axis Range:  Changing this parameter will determine if the range used for the X-axis on the displayed graph(s) is the possible range for the score or the observed range for the score.
    • The default selection is Observed Score Range.
    • After changing the filter value, the filter selections will persist as you move to other analyses or make other filter changes.

  • X-axis: Changing this parameter will update the X-axis displayed on the graph(s).
    • The default selection is Score.
    • After changing the filter value, the filter selections will persist as you move to other analyses.

  • Y-axis: Changing this parameter will update the Y-axis displayed on the graph(s).
    • The default selection is Frequency.
    • After changing the filter value, the filter selections will persist as you move to other analyses.

Frequency Distribution Graph(s) section
There are two graph containers for this report, a Bar Graph and a Line Graph.  Users can choose the type of graph they would like to view.  By default, the "Bar Graph" is enabled/displayed and the "Line Graph" is disabled/hidden.

Clicking on the tab will update the tab to either display the graph (if previously disabled) or hide it (if previously enabled).  A blue tab is enabled, a gray tab is disabled.   When only one graph is enabled it will display the single enabled graph.  When both graphs are enabled they will display both graphs side-by-side.

Bar Graph

  • The Category Value to Display:* filter will determine which category value (if any) will be displayed in the graph.
    • The default display for this filter upon initial rendering is (No Category Value).
      • If viewing a Frequency Distribution and Summary Statistics analysis or a Bivariate Frequency Distributions analysis the default value of (No Category Value) will not need to be adjusted.
      • If viewing a Category-Scores Frequency Distribution and Summary Statistics analysis the default filter selection will need to be adjusted and a valid category value for this analysis needs to be selected before a bar graph will be displayed.
    • After changing the filter value the selection made will persist as you move to other analyses.  If the filter selection made does not apply to the next analysis being viewed it may result in a blank report with a message to adjust filters.  Reselect a new filter value that is applicable to the analysis being viewed if this occurs.
           Bar Graph filters

  • Only one category value (if applicable) can be displayed at a time.  Change the graph filter selection or use the filter navigation tools if needed to view each category value for this analysis.

  • A tooltip appears when hovering over any bar on the graph to display the score, category value, y-axis value, and the x-axis value being represented in that bar point.

  • If desired, utilize the zoom feature to expand your plot to get a closer view of a set of data points.  Refer to Visualize Results for general information about the zoom functionality for any report that contains plots.

Line Graph

  • The Category Value: filter will determine which category values (if any) will be displayed in the graph.
    • The default display for this filter upon initial rendering is to show all possible category values for this analysis.
      • If viewing a Frequency Distribution and Summary Statistics analysis or a Bivariate Frequency Distributions analysis the value of (No Category Value) will be displayed.
      • If viewing a Category-Scores Frequency Distribution and Summary Statistics analysis the default filter selection will display as (All).  If desired, use the dropdown feature to choose to modify which category values are displayed.
    • After changing the filter value the selection made will persist as you move to other analyses.  If the filter selection made does not apply to the next analysis being viewed it may result in a blank report with a message to adjust filters.  Reselect a new filter value that is applicable to the analysis being viewed if this occurs.

          Line Graph filter

  • Each category value displayed will have a unique shape at each discrete data point as well as a solid line in a unique color connecting the data points.  A legend will display the shape in the color it appears on the graph for the category value(s).

  • A tooltip appears when hovering over any data point on the graph to display the score, category value, y-axis value, and the x-axis value being represented in that data point.

  • If desired, utilize the zoom feature to expand your plot to get a closer view of a set of data points.  Refer to Visualize Results for general information about the zoom functionality for any report that contains plots.
